About

This is the thing I hate about having a personal website…do I write in the first person so everything sounds so…selfish?  Or do I write in the third person and have it sound like I’m talking about myself as though I’m someone else? I guess since I’ve already used “I” like 4 times, I better go with first person.

Living in the southwest wing of the third floor in Marquette University’s men’s residence O’Donnell Hall led to me finding the group of guys that I consider my best friends. That place was more home than anywhere else I’ve ever lived.

This site is my home on the internet and it only made sense I name it after the place that had such a profound impact on my entire college career.

I’m a web developer with a BA in English: Writing Intensive from Marquette university. A lot of people are surprised when I tell them that, but it simply comes down to Marquette not having a web design/development program until the start of my senior year. I’ve been teaching myself all aspects of the web since I was 16 and am currently focusing on the phenomenon known as Ruby on Rails.

I hope to detail the progress of an application I’ve recently started building in the blog here.

Music is a huge passion of mine…both listening and making. Nine Inch Nails is my favorite band (saw them live 13 times from 2005-2009) but, thanks to the awesomeness otherwise known as Rock Band, I’m a fan of most any music that doesn’t suck (i.e. most rap and country ;) ).  Over the last few years, I’ve taken my self-taught ability to play guitar and have expanded that to bass, drums (via Rock Band but I now own an actual e-kit) and keyboards. I hope to share much of what I’ve learned about Ableton Live and various synthesizers here on three|southwest.
